Reading Time: 4 minutes

Let’s face it: sometimes it’s really hard to drink the recommended eight glasses of water a day. Have you ever found yourself reaching for a sugary, sweet drink instead of water because you needed flavor? It’s a common issue that can cause dehydration, without even realizing it. If you’re looking for a new way to spice up your water, look no further. A great way to combat dehydration is by following a lemon water recipe.

Not only are these recipes tasty, they’re healthy and delicious! So put the soda down, and read these yummy recipes to help you drink more water, and add some natural flavors to your daily routine.

Recipe #1: Lemon Mint Water

When it comes to lemon water recipes, the staple recipe is lemon mint water. There are only three ingredients necessary for this recipe, and all are in the title! If you are unsure of the best procedure to slice your lemon, watch this tutorial.  This recipe is a single, 8 ounce serving, but you can easily transform it into a pitcher serving size by multiplying the ingredients.

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 3 to 4 slices of lemon
  • 3 mint leaves
  • 8 ounces of filtered water.

How to Make it:

  1. For this lemon water recipe, squeeze the lemon slices directly into the glass before adding water so it mixes well. To avoid getting seeds into your water, squeeze the lemon over a spoon, above the glass. That way, the seeds will land on the spoon and you can easily toss them out. Any excess lemon juice can be poured from the spoon into the glass.
  2. For the next step, take your mint leaves and put them in the water. If you don’t want full mint leaves, you can rip them. However, do not cut the mint leaves! Cutting the mint leaves tears their cell wall, leading to premature browning. Just simply tear the mint leaves by hand, you’re not damaging them.
  3. Add your water, and ice if you’d like to.
  4. Enjoy!

Lemon Water Recipe #2: Lemon Blackberry Water

To say that this lemon water is refreshing would be an understatement. This lemon and blackberry infused water will have you feeling like a Summer day, even in the cold months. This recipe is suited for a pitcher, and can serve four.

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • Two lemons, thinly sliced.
  • 8-10 ounces of blackberries
  • One gallon of water

How to Make it

  1. Add your thinly sliced lemons to the bottom of a pitcher.
  2. Pour in your blackberries. (You can use fresh blackberries, or even frozen blackberries to keep your water nice and chilled.)
  3. Optional: if using fresh blackberries, don’t be afraid to muddle, or score, the blackberries to make the flavor stronger.
  4. Add one gallon of water to your pitcher.
  5. Serve over ice and enjoy!

Recipe #3: Fresh, “Detox” Lemon Water

Let’s make it clear: lemon water does not detoxify your body, but instead it can aid in flushing out toxins from your body. One great way to aid this is by drinking this lemon water recipe. Not only is it fresh tasting, but it provides a healthy amount of Vitamin C to your daily intake. This recipe is for a single, 8 ounce serving, but can be made into a larger yield by multiplying the ingredients.

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • 3 to 4 lemon slices
  • 4 slices of cucumber
  • 8 ounces of filtered water.

How to Make it

  1. Squeeze three to four lemon slices into a glass. Again, in order to avoid seeds getting in your water, you can squeeze the lemon slices over a glass. If you don’t like a powerful lemon taste, skip this step and just put the lemon slices at the bottom of the glass.
  2. Add your slices of cucumber to the glass.
  3. Last, you’ll add 8 ounces of filtered water.
  4. Optional: Serve over ice. The cucumber taste is more prevalent in room temperature water, but if you prefer ice cold: add ice.

Lemon Water Recipe #4: The Perfect Cold Day, Lemon Ginger Tea

If you’re not ready for cold, refreshing lemon water recipes- don’t worry! This recipe is perfect for a cold day, or for when you’re feeling under the weather. This is for one cup of tea, but can be multiplied to supply a higher yield. The ginger in this tea will help with digestion, and settle any stomach aches.

Here’s What You’ll Need

  • 3 to 4 slices of lemon.
  • 3 slices of fresh ginger root (¼ inch slices with the skin on)
  • 8 punches of filtered water.
  • Optional: Tea bag (caffeinated or decaffeinated, chamomile is a great option).
  • Optional: Honey (it’s a natural and healthy sweetener)

How to Make it

  1. Boil water.
  2. Once the water is at a rolling boil (large, rapid bubbling), remove from the heat.
  3. Add the lemon slices and ginger root. Be careful not to burn yourself during the process.
  4. Let this steep for 20 minutes.
  5. Optional: If you included a tea bag, follow the instructions on the bag for steeping time.
  6. Optional: Add honey to taste.
  7. This tea can be served either hot or cold, it’s up to you!
